Dax Scharfstein serves as a partner in the Real Estate Finance Group at Cassin & Cassin LLP. He has more than 16 years of experience performing real estate finance and general real estate transactions. Mr. Scharfstein's primary expertise is in representing commercial lenders, insurance companies and private equity funds in their origination of mortgage and mezzanine loans for securitization and balance sheet executions. In addition, he has substantial experience in originating mortgage and mezzanine construction and bridge loans for syndication. Mr. Scharfstein has been involved in some of the largest CMBS restructurings, negotiated workouts and loan sales for commercial lenders. He also has represented developers and high net worth individuals in their acquisition and disposition of real estate portfolios throughout the United States.

Prior to joining Cassin & Cassin, Mr. Scharfstein spent seven years in the real estate group at Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP. Thereafter, Mr. Scharfstein spent three years in the CMBS group of Bear Stearns where he structured and closed over $20 billion of real estate transactions for securitization and CDO exit. In addition, he was the General Counsel for the Carlton Group for three years, where he lead all aspects of that firm's origination and restructuring platforms for both their balance sheet debt and real estate equity investments.

Mr. Scharfstein is admitted to practice in the State of New York and is a member of the American Bar Association and Commercial Mortgage Securities Association. He received his Juris Doctor from Hofstra University, School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from Brandeis University.
